Aquinas Academy is a small private, Catholic school dedicated to promoting academic excellence within the tradition of a Catholic education. Aquinas Academy  offers personalized instruction, regarding each child as of infinite value in the sight of God.
Aquinas Academy offers a Catholic liberal arts education based on methodology modeled by its patron saints, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. John Bosco.  St. Thomas, one of the greatest intellectual figures in the history of the world and the Church, taught intellectual truths by using methods and language that is readily understandable.  St. John Bosco’s educational methods were to regard students as children of God and having infinite value.  The student’s educational and character formation must be personalized using charity and love.

It is the deliberate intention of the Academy to teach the faith not as an independent course within the school day, but as the Vatican II councilor document on Christian Education, Gravissumum Educationis, states: “to relate all of human culture to the good news of  salvation so that the light of the faith will illumine everything that the students will gradually come to learn about the world, about life, and about the human person.”
Every aspect of the academic experience is given over to the development of the whole man:  the man who speaks, writes, and acts in the context of the Ignatian concept of "eloquentia perfecta" (perfect eloquence).
Aquinas Academy strives to produce “the true Christian... the supernatural man who thinks and acts constantly and consistently in accordance with right reason illumined by the supernatural light of the example and teaching of Christ.”  (Pius XI, The Christian Education of Youth)

With advances in technology, today’s education focuses primarily on skill development and short-term outcomes.  However, a Catholic Liberal Education embraces excellence in human achievement and frees the person to pursue true happiness.  It is the exposure to excellence that gives witness to value, to truth, and thereby, to God.  A child will imitate what he learns.  If exposed to excellence, he will be attracted to excellence and imitate it in his thoughts, words and deeds; if exposed to mediocrity, he will imitate that, too.  Parents want the best for their children.  This means the best education to prepare them for the future.

A comprehensive liberal arts curriculum is one that builds a strong academic foundation and develops study habits that the student will use as a life long learner.  Courses include theology, composition, literature, history, mathematics, science and fine arts.  Instruction meets or exceeds  Delaware school curriculum standards for  academic subjects with secondary courses meeting requirements towards a high school diploma and college acceptance.
